Former FBI Director James Comey was not aware that his “8647” social media post would be interpreted as a violent call because the former FBI director claimed when he knocked out a few hours later.
The RNC chairman said Comey’s skeletal filing was dealt with, but stopped calling on the FBI director to lock down as he was asked whether he agreed to the director of National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard.
“I agree (and) that this should be investigated,” Whatley said in an interview with Fox News’ “MediaBuzz.”
“It was unintentional,” he continued. “James Comey knew exactly what he was asking. He thought it was interesting. It wasn’t interesting.”
Comey – the president’s long-term enemy – posted a photo on Instagram earlier Thursday that arranged the number of “8647” on the beach. The Post was hit hard by Trump’s presidential base, and many understand that the figure was violent against the 47th President Trump. Others suggest that “86” may call on the president to improvise or remove him from the office.
Comey deleted the photo Thursday night and clarified in a new post that he did not intend to call for violence and did not realize his message would be explained.
“I posted photos of some of the shells I saw on the beach walk today on the beach walk earlier, and I think it’s a political message,” Comey wrote on Instagram.
“I didn’t realize that some people associate these numbers with violence,” he continued. “It never happened to me, but I opposed any kind of violence, so I fell down my post.”
However, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary Kristi Noem accused Comey of calling for Trump’s “assassination” and said federal law enforcement is investigating the “threat.”
“The lost former FBI director James Comey just called for the assassination of @potus Trump,” Norm wrote on social platform X on Thursday night. “The Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service are investigating the threat and will respond appropriately.”
Gabbard told Fox News’s Jesse Watters that Comey should be in jail and that she “cares a lot” about the president’s life.
“We’ve seen attempts to assassinate. I’m very concerned about his life,” she said. “In my opinion, James Comey should be responsible for it and take responsibility for it.”
