Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said Monday that there appears to be no restrictions on Republican support for President Trump, “regardless of the corruption or corruption involved.”
“We think Republicans may be complaining about some of these things, but by the end of the day, no bottom of their support for the president, regardless of the stubbornness or corruption involved.
Democrats slammed the idea of gift concepts, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) announced Tuesday that he would place every political nominee on all political candidates as Trump stays on accepting the plane.
“It’s not just naked corruption — it’s also a serious national security threat,” Schumer said on the floor. “I will do my best to stop the DOJ’s outright and breathtaking politicization before the American people understand the truth about this deal.”
Trump defended the acceptance of the gift on Monday, saying he was “probably a stupid guy, ‘Oh no, we don’t want a free plane.’”
He added: “We will take out things, and we will take one. It will help us because… we have a 40-year-old plane.”
Van Hollen said in the appearance of CNN that the airplane gift is “awkish, pure and simple.”
“I mean, the reason for the “Emmer Timber” clause in the Constitution is to prevent essentially trying to buy favored countries with the U.S. president,” added the Maryland Democrat.
The mountain has been contacted by the White House for comment.
