Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said on Saturday that he will soon be interviewed in an interview with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in amid the country’s conflict with the United States and Israel.
“We know we’ll be criticized for doing this interview. Why do we do that? We do it because we were fighting Iran ten days ago, maybe again.”
He added: “So, over time, our views have been consistent and that American citizens have constitutional rights and God-given rights that they can collect all information about the matters that affect them.”
Once his media company completes final editing, the full discussion between Carlson and Pezshkian is expected to air in “A Day or Two.”
Carlson said he did not raise questions about his inability to get a “honest answer” including whether the U.S. strike affected Iran’s nuclear weapons progress.
“He didn’t have the chance to answer this question honestly. I didn’t bother asking. Actually, from an American perspective, the answer is agnostic, even from a CIA perspective. So we appreciate it.”
Instead, he asked Pezeshkian “What is your goal? Are you seeking war with the United States? Are you seeking war with Israel?'” Carlson said.
Carlson has air strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities supported by the Trump administration and Republican Senator Ted Cruz (Texas). He slammed Fox News’ lawmakers and former colleagues who casually encouraged violence.
However, President Trump raised criticism from his former allies and encouraged Carlson to “get the TV network” to broadcast his remarks so that people can listen.
Israel first attacked Iran on June 13 and killed several military leaders and top engineers to thwart U.S. nuclear development.
Carlson said on Saturday that he also requested an interview with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has provided a more comprehensive view on the situation in the Middle East three times in recent months.
“The purpose of the interview is to increase the corpus of knowledge that Americans can get their opinions from. Learn everything and then you decide that this is the promise of the United States,” Carlson said, referring to his interview with the Iranian president.
“We hope this interview is a small part of what makes this promise true, and once we edit as stated, it should be edited in a day or two.”
