Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) said Saturday that the Trump administration will allow the state’s National Guard to assist law enforcement in Chicago and other parts of the Prairie State.
Pritzker wrote in a statement on social platform X: “This morning, the Trump administration’s War Department gave me the final atatim: Call your troops or we will.
“In the next few hours, the Trump administration intends to have 300 members of the federal Illinois National Guard.”
The move comes Monday when Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials requested 100 National Guard soldiers present.
After the president specifically emphasized Chicago as a city of concern, Democratic governor strongly denied President Trump’s scans of illegal acts within the state.
“In the ongoing violent riots and illegal acts, local leaders like Pritzker have refused to intervene, and President Trump has authorized 300 National Guards to protect federal officials and assets. President Trump will not have no laws on the plaguing American cities,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said in a statement to the Hill.
Pritzker again rejected the presence of the military on Saturday, warning residents that they could face danger.
“Yesterday, masked agents of Kristi Noem and Greg Bovino threw chemical agents near an elementary school, arrested elected officials for exercising their First Amendment rights and raided Wal-Mart.
Pritzker encourages citizens to record videos of themselves interacting with soldiers and immigration officials as some local media reported on cruel treatment and conflict cases.
A local media reported that the naked child was taken away in a naked apartment, while another Chicago Sun Age report said the rear of the U-Haul truck that died at night was forced into the back of the U-Haul truck.
Federal officials have restricted airspace above Big Wind City to prevent opportunities for drone records and other aviation documents. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) issued a statement that raised concerns about the action.
“The FAA’s ‘Temporary Flight Restrictions’ (TFR) was conducted in the context of abusive immigration raids in Chicago and a despicable flooding against the city by President Trump, with National Guard forces and federal law enforcement officers,” the ACLU wrote.
It added: “This raises suspicion that it does not intend to not ensure the safety of government aircraft, but rather (with violence, harassment and ‘doxing’ claims) is another attempt to prevent journalists and citizens from recording the activities of the authorities.”
