President Trump slammed the Biden administration in his Memorial Day remarks at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, saying he had “fixed” the country after “a long and difficult four years.”
Trump criticized the way the previous administration led the country and how the U.S.-Mexico border was handled after paying tribute to the first casualties in the American War of Independence. He did not mention former President Biden’s name.
“Their heroism provides us with the freest, greatest, most sublime republic of all time, and this is the republic I am fixing after a long and difficult four years. It is the difficult four years we have gone through.”
The president added: “Who will let this happen? People are tilted in our borders and not organized. What people do is indescribable, not what is to be discussed today, but the republic that is doing well now.”
The commander-in-chief said the United States is doing well and he will do well considering this situation.
Trump pays tribute to the Venus family and thanks them for giving the country “the brightest light of your life.”
“These are great families. “These are great families, amid the familiar laughter, no longer hearing the blank space at Sunday dinner, or the hug or pat on the back will never come back.”
“Their sacrifice is for today, tomorrow and every morning afterwards, every child living in peace, every home full of joy and love, the Republic is possible every day because those things that must be done when on duty, and the expenses for them and their families are everything,” the president told the crowd on Monday. “Our debt to them is eternal and does not decrease over time. It only grows and grows with each year.”
At the beginning of the speech, Trump praised Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for his outstanding performance in his role, which seemed to refer to his arduous confirmation process earlier this year.
“He’s been through a lot, not, but he’s doing it well. He’s a tough cookie. That’s what we want,” the president said.
The president also mentioned the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Army and said the celebrations will replace Los Angeles’ 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics, both major sports events held in the United States
“We’re going to have a great celebration, but the most important thing is the 250th anniversary that blows up everything, including the World Cup and the Olympics,” Trump said. “In my case.”
He added: “Can you imagine I missed four years?
