“Panorama House” is one of the tallest and most impressive houses in Bronte, located on top of a sandstone cliff and paved on a private block with views. What don’t love?
For Sydney’s high-end real estate buyers, it’s a port or sea view. If that vision was uninterrupted and from a flat land, the buzz would be as loud as the midsummer cicada in the city.
“Panorama House” at 31A of Bronte Yanko Avenue is such a place where Sydney Islanders can talk.
The guide price of the 841 m2 four-bedroom, three-bathroom Stunner is $25.5 million, which not only has amazing views but also north-to-north aspects, is an architectural masterpiece, a building masterpiece – tick, tick tick, tick tick.
Local anesthesiologist Dr. Erin Cook and his wife Sophie bought a California bungalow in the neighborhood in 2010 for $5.85 million. A few years later, they demolished it to build what Mr. Cook calls “an incredible work of art in a perfect place.”
“It’s right on the tip of the cliff overlooking Bronte Beach. We radiate beautiful sunrises all day in the ocean. As you look at the horizon, you’ll see whales passing by and Boxing Day, Sydney arrives at Hobart Yacht.”
Designed by Richard Cole and built by Jeff Towler, Panorama House exquisitely combines brick, stone, concrete, zinc and black.
“It’s all curved, the roof has volatility lines to replicate the waves of Bronte. I still get a new appreciation for the artistic nature of the architectural art; it’s really shockingly gorgeous.”
The three-storey home is the winner of the 2019 HIA-CSR Building of the Year Award in NSW, and features a stunning double-height lounge room with glass walls surrounded by two-way Escea Fireplace.
The first floor also includes a variety of dining areas, a high-spec kitchen with built-in cocktail bar, a butler pantry and a Calacatta Oro breakfast island, and two bedrooms.
The upper level offers parents’ retreat with a style bathroom with double shower and bathtub, sea views, custom office and other living areas. The ground floor includes a Lomps room, gym or media study.
The house spills over into the surrounding deck, a sunbathing garden and a heated pool and spa that seem to float on the ocean.
“Every room has a view,” Mr. Cook said. “And the spa is great; you can open it at work, so when you get home, you can enjoy a beer and enjoy a beer while overlooking the beach – nothing better than it.”
Other features include 11.9 kW solar power with 10kW battery, hydrothermal heating, triple parking and a dual garage with electric car charger.
The property is also very private on the battle block at the end of a long cobblestone driveway.
“It’s a very cautious place. A few minutes’ walk to all the beautiful attractions and beaches in Bronte, but it’s totally quiet.”
Sotheby’s agent James Ball regards panoramic views of the gullies, beaches and oceans as “probably one of the best views I’ve seen in that market”, and the level barriers in the area are unusual.
“Usually, the property there can be seen up and down, so it’s a truly unique feature of the house,” Mr. Ball said.
He said he had a “good interest” in the property, prompting him to raise the initial $24 million guide price.
“This has attracted interest overseas and locals want to upgrade from nearby suburbs such as Double Bay and Bellevue Hill,” he said.
The current Brontère price record was set by 3 Tiper Avenue, which sold for $29.25 million in April 2023, and was also set by Mr. Ball.
As their kids go to college, chefs are shrinking and planning to buy apartments in Sydney and coastal residents for a week.
“It’s time for others to enjoy this beautiful place,” Mr. Cook said.
Sydneysiders, form a queue.
31A Bronte Yanco Avenue will be auctioned on Saturday, May 3 at 12:30 pm.
