Prolific bar owners Tina and Dave Barrett list their federal-era homes in the north of Melbourne for $3.2 million and $3.5 million.

The wife and husband had the wrong decision on Johnston St, Fitzroy, and recently sold two other venues on the same street, the Laundry Bar and George’s Bar.

The couple has also been experienced renovators after upgrading and flipping nine homes, including multiple places where they live, over the past 14 years or so.

Ms Barrett said she fell in love with the period features and high ceilings of 25 Thomas St, Moonee Ponds after seeing the property first.

At the time, the “very outdated” residence had been empty for about a year due to the shared pandemic, but she could see its potential.

Their extensive renovation works have installed a new kitchen, bathroom and laundry while retaining historic features through the residence’s Leadlight windows and fireplace.

Ms Barrett said: “All the tiles are from Italy and we have a lot of imported lighting, but we have always been loyal to the legacy.”

The new stone and wooden kitchen features island benches, splash tiles and 1500mm ILVE cookware.

The historic features of the houses of this period have been preserved in renovation.

A gas-converted fireplace warms the living area while the main bedroom upstairs and downstairs features a walk-in closet with soaking tub and brushed copper faucet bottles and a replacement.

In the master bathroom, there is a grooved glass shower screen, skylight, bathtub and double mirrors and basin.

Ms. Barrett said she particularly likes the formal lounge.

“I really like to sit there and read, it has beautiful windows, beautiful natural light, and the same goes for the north,” she said.

Bifold doors lead to expensive deck and back garden.

Coffee on the north deck of the backyard is another favorite pastime.

She was interested in local trees in areas such as Queens Park and planted their 816m2 blocks with similar greenery.

“I tried to blend together many of the plants we used in Queens Park and the landscape found in the neighboring property just to keep it cohesive and aligned with the heritage building,” Ms Barrett said.

Baltic pine trees and black mouth floors, splitting systems and heating and cooling of pipes and storage rooms are the characteristics of the house.

Accessories for ceramic tiles and lamps were imported from the UK, Italy and France.

Dylan Francis of Whitefox Northside said the “Perfuce Perfect” home attracted family buyers that include multiple generations of families because of its size and number of bedrooms.

“Having a double garage and four safe off-street car points also means you have plenty of room for your vehicle or any other toy,” Francis said.

Close the expression of interest at 5 pm on August 5.
