After years of decline in recruitment and retention, and neglect of our country’s fighters, the U.S. military is turning. Leadership led by President Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is inspiring one of the most striking military revivals in recent history.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, the Department of the Army missed its recruitment targets through historic profit margins. In fiscal 2022, their goal is to attract 60,000 people and shorten 15,000 people. In fiscal 2023, the military failed again, managing only 55,000 recruits, the worst recruitment crisis since the establishment of all volunteers in 1973.

The Navy and Air Force departments did not perform better. The Air Force missed its recruitment goal for the first time in nearly 25 years. The Marine Corps usually exceeds half of its recruitment targets every year, entering the 2022 fiscal year, with just over 30%.

These numbers are more focused when you realize the subsequent domino effect. Since the United States entered World War II, the United States has entered a new year in 2024 and is the smallest active service. All this is not good considering the conflict between the Middle East and the Middle East, and it all settles on our periphery.

Now, things have changed dramatically just over 100 days since the new government started. Trump took office and Hegseth led the Pentagon allegations that the Army had more than 85% reached 61,000 recruits in 2025, an exciting figure for the service’s 250th anniversary.

General James Mingus said in his March 12, 2025 remarks to Congress: “We have seen “we have seen momentum, which is different from anything we have had in a decade.” ”

The navy’s story is also very strong. “We are surpassing the 2025 recruitment target,” James Kilby, vice president of Navy Operations, said in a recent congressional hearing. This target is 40,600 new sailors.

The Marines are reporting historical retention rates for fiscal 2025, “overgrading the first semester consistent program and the overall statistical mission of the Professional Marines,” Air Force Chief of Staff David Allvin will post on X in March on X, which is the 15-year high for recruitment in December, January and February – even taking into account 20% of 2025.

This is not a fluorine, it is not a new reward structure – it is a new leadership that inspires the bravest clarity and belief in our country.

Recruitment and retention are the great majority of success stories, but 1.3 million active members know that the military is only ready, which means building elite fighters, not checking boxes.

Under Hegseth’s guidance, the Army’s overall health and fitness program exploded in scope and impact. Pilot programs were once conducted in some brigades, which will now be implemented in the 71st Brigade, with the goal of military-wide integration by 2032.

Units with overall health and fitness teams and facilities reported a 23% increase in passing rates for Army combat fitness tests, 27% of expert rifle surgery and a staggering 502% drop in 502%. Behavioral health referrals fell by 49%, and suicide rates for these units fell by 37%.

Couple fighters mean healthier fighters and reflect a community ready to fight. If you can’t advance, you’ll have a team that can help you get there. What if you don’t want to lay off employees? You’re out. In a department-wide memorandum, Heggs announced that all branches will follow suit and participate in department-wide review of existing standards.

Forces with combat effectiveness are not a health initiative, but a combat initiative, and a cultural transfer to what the U.S. military is best at: building powerful, deadly, and disciplined fighters that can be deployed in honor, rule and return home.

Perhaps nothing is better than the recent revival of the Medal of Honor winner Dakota Meyer. 15 years after uniform service, Meyer raised his right hand and swore again – this time it was a Pentagon ceremony led by Hegseth himself.

Meyer’s return is more than just symbolic. This is the spark of the future Marines and warriors of this country. In his words, “You won’t stop serving just because your uniform falls off. It’s about leading from the front.”

The new mission of the Department of Defense is simple: First, the mission, people never, have no apology to put American defense at the center of American policy. The secretary made it clear in the list that the three regions listed would be the center of everything the U.S. military will do: restore the spirit of the fighters, rebuild our military and re-establish deterrence.

The United States has the greatest military in the world. As two Marine sisters and a member of the Venus family, I can prove this personally, and it’s an expression of emotion for all my brothers’ combat partners. The American fighter was ready to extend his arms. In just a few months, they transformed the forces of struggle that many believed to be stagnant into separating the fighters through race, gender, creed and religion, becoming a motivated army that could be mission-ready.

American soldiers are no longer forgotten. They were fired, locked and ready to lead again.

It is not just a military comeback—it is the comeback of every American who believes peace is through strength, holding a unified belief that our service members should gain leadership, not only respect them, but also support their sacrifices, and support their success.
