Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) dismissed the threat from tech billionaire Elon Musk to Republicans who support President Trump’s huge tax and spending bill, which challengers will face the final pass toward the House early Thursday morning.
Marshall told the news Nicholas Ballasy that he and his Republican lawmakers are “ignoring” Musk’s warning.
When asked about the threat, Kansas Republicans said: “I will support President Trump on Elon any day of the week and come home.”
“Look, we need to pass this bill because it helps to carry out President Trump’s agenda. His first priority is to ensure the borders, bring back prosperity and security.” “I think if we do these things – if we bring back prosperity and security – we will be re-elected.”
“Elon continued his little spit,” the senator added. “We ignored him. Let’s get this bill across the finish line.”
Musk said on Monday that he would support any major challenger to Republicans who support Trump’s big giant Bill, who has been called “political suicide.” The Tesla CEO also promised to donate to members who attracted government IREs, including Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).
The billionaire left a position as an adviser to the Trump administration in late May, opposing the elimination from the Biden-era energy tax credit and the bill expected to increase its deficit by nearly $3.3 trillion over the next decade.
Ballasy asked Marshall if he was concerned about the amount of the world’s wealthiest people might face major challenges.
“I haven’t considered that today,” the senator said. “In some states, it’s going to be a big speed. In Kansas, it might not be that much. I think President Trump is very popular in most states.”
However, Marshall said the public hatred between Trump and Musk was triggered by the latter’s opposition to the “big and beautiful bill” and is an unsustainable long-term.
“I think we need to find a way to get Elon back in,” he added. “He is a smart guy. He brings a lot of stuff to our economy. Let’s figure out how to bring Elon back here.”
