Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) cites the popular Disney+ TV show “Andor” while cheering comedian Jimmy Kimmel back on his late-night ABC show.
“Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, leaks. Authority is fragile. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember,'”
He added: “Looking forward to seeing Jimmy back in the air.”
Pritzker’s quote “Andor” is a show with a rebellious theme against oppressive forces, and it is worth noting that both ABC and Disney+ are owned by Walt Disney Company.
Disney now says Kimmel will return Tuesday after pulling him off the TV last week. It said in a statement that it evacuated Kimmel from the air “to avoid further inciting tensions at a time of emotional moments in the country.”
Kimmel said last Monday that conservatives tried to score a “political point” by assassinating Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and joked that President Trump was mourning his death “like a 4-year-old goldfish.”
The comments have left Kimmel strongly condemned by Trump’s federal communications president, who said comedians should face punishment from the Internet.
Tensions between the left and right of the United States in the second Trump administration have intensified in regard to his legacy and freedom of speech.
“Our people will never accept the government’s threat to our freedom of speech. Leaders are pressured by artists, journalists and companies to the core of their speech strikes, a letter from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) read by hundreds of stars and creators.
