Former Republican executive Reince Priebus said President Trump is following the exact promise of undermining federal government and trade relations, saying the president tends to touch the “fire” and then “return to the drawing committee and keep things in line.”
During a panel on Sunday, Priebus, who served as the first chief of staff for the Trump administration, was fired in July 2017, said Trump was doing “everything he said he was going to do.”
The former Republican National Committee chairperson added: “I don’t think Donald Trump will undermine the federal government, to undermine our trade relations by imposing tariffs – he promised.”
Publicly Trump critic Priebus said he doesn’t want to criticize yet because Trump has a way of “touching the fire”.
“I just won’t judge it too early, because I think Donald Trump does have a way to touch the fire and then go back to the drawing board and get things in a row, and I think that’s what he’s doing.”
Pribs stressed that Trump’s election victory showed that “actually important” and added that the picture of Kamala Harris in the performance’s graphics is an important part of the discussion.
Pribs said: “(Americans) have options. They see choices. They see common layers. They say, ‘We don’t want to go in this direction anymore in this country.’
Priebus noted that Trump’s agenda was like the country’s “biggest middle finger”, which was his comment shortly after Trump’s election, when the president nominated former Rep. Matt Gates (R-FLA.) as attorney general.
“He felt like he had gone to hell and went back 10 times,” he said at the time. “So, this is also the big and middle finger of the Department of Justice and the FBI.”
After a strong pushback, Trump changed to nominate former Florida Attorney General Pam Bundy (R).
