Senator Bill Cassidy (R-la.) and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said Wednesday that President Trump quickly distributed the Nobel Peace Prize during the pandemic.
“President Trump deserves the Nobel Prize,” Cassidy said in a statement on X on Wednesday.
Bourla said Trump has accelerated the development, manufacturing and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines by implementing distorted speeds (a joint effort between the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense), a comment released hours after Bourla said it had saved 14 million lives worldwide.
“The distortion speed restores consumer confidence, saving more than $1 trillion in health care costs and rapidly expanding domestic production due to reduced severe illness and avoidance of hospitalization,” Bourla wrote in a statement Wednesday.
He added: “This U.S. leadership also provides a new platform that could drive significant innovations in cancer research. Given its significant impact, such achievement is often worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.”
Berla’s statement comes the day after Trump asked pharmacies to “prove” the success of their treatment amid the administrative turmoil of vaccines and other health issues.
“It is very important for pharmaceutical companies to prove the success of their various common drugs. Many people think they are a miracle that saves millions of lives. Others disagree!” said the president in his post on the Truth Society on Labor Day.
Moderna, which developed a Covid-19-19 vaccine, and may be the target of the President’s Labor Day Post, issued a statement Wednesday praising Trump’s help to “end the end of the 19th pandemic, reopening economies and saving millions of lives.”
In recent months, Trump has promoted recognition from his peers in the form of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Pakistan suggests Trump has won a peace prize for his intervention in the conflict between the country and India.
In late August, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-la.) said the president should receive awards for fighting crime in Washington.
