Border Cheese Tom Homan desecrated him on Saturday in a rejection report, saying he received $50,000 in cash in exchange for a contract award last September.
In answering questions about the news agency’s Libbey Dean allegations, Homan said it was “the bull—“.
MSNBC, citing internal documents and multiple people involved in the investigation, said Homan was part of a covert operation recorded last year, accepting $50,000 of $50,000, the agents pretending to be businessmen. The report said Homan did so after showing that he could help agents win government contracts in the second Trump Administration.
MSNBC, citing six sources familiar with the matter, said the FBI and the Justice Department intend to see if Homan will fulfill his promise, but the case stagnated when Trump won the election. The network reported that the case was later shut down by someone appointed by Trump.
“This matter originated in the last administration and was subject to a comprehensive scrutiny by FBI agents and Justice Department prosecutors. They found no reliable evidence of any criminal wrongdoing,” FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement to the Hill.
Other officials within the Trump administration responded to the same remarks and attributed the investigation to “political motivation.”
“Tom Homan has not been involved in any contract ruling decisions,” White House spokesman Abigail Jackson said.
Homan has been a key figure in President Trump’s immigration agenda, which focuses on mass deportation measures across the country.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raided churches, houses and workplaces to quickly arrest people from countries deemed to be without legal status.
Private contractors, including Homan’s Geo Group and Corecivic have contracted to manage and operate the ICE detention center, while additional outsourcing has been carried out to accelerate the development of new holding facilities in Florida and other states.
Since the start of Trump’s second administration, Republican lawmakers have proposed economically incentivized bounty hunting programs to hunt down illegal immigrants, while investors have lobbyed for the use of chartered private jets to eliminate undocumented immigrants ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
