Defense Minister Pete Hegseth threatened Iran’s support for Houthi militants in Yemen, telling the country “will pay consequences.”

“The message to Iran to Iran: We see your fatal support for Huthis. We know exactly what you are doing. You know very well the capabilities of the U.S. military — and are warned. You will pay the consequences at the time and place we choose.”

Hegseth’s Wednesday comments are similar to President Trump’s words last month, asking Tehran to stop providing weapons to Houthis in Yemen.

Trump’s social post at the time said: “When Iran reduced the intensity of military equipment and general support for Huthis, the report was still in progress, but they were still sending a large amount of supplies. Iran must stop sending them immediately. Let Hotis fight against it himself.”

He added: “Either way, they lose, but so they will lose very quickly. It’s a huge harm to the Houthi savages and watching it gradually get worse – not even a fair fight, never. They will be completely wiped out.”

Earlier this month, U.S. troops attacked the major fuel port in western Yemen, which is used for Houthi resources. As part of the air battle that began in March, U.S. forces recently targeted Hotis.

“Now, the U.S. military has taken action to eliminate this fuel from Iran-backed Houthi terrorists and deprive them of their illegal income,” said a previous statement from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
