Today, former President Donald Trump has strong support for Bitcoin and the wider cryptocurrency, saying it is a crucial American asset that the United States must continue to rule.

“So, I became a fan of cryptocurrencies, and for me, it’s an industry,” Trump said. “I see it as an industry, I’m the president, if we didn’t, China would or someone else would, but it’s very likely China.”

Trump stressed the economic resilience and strategic importance of Bitcoin and pointed out its relative strength during the recent market decline.

“In fact, when the stock market has fallen lately, cryptocurrencies and bitcoin, all of which are much less than everyone else,” he said. “We created a very strong industry, which is much more important than anything we invest in.”

The former president talked about his personal intervention with Bitcoin before launching the 2024 presidential election. He stressed: “I was involved a few years ago, before the second semester, I got involved before I decided to run…I was in Bitcoin at that time and I don’t know if I was going to do it for the third time.”

Trump also advises Bitcoin to become more mainstream. “It’s the job it generates, and I’m noticing that more and more you pay for bitcoin. I mean, people say it’s under a lot of pressure. It’s a great thing for our country, so I don’t care about investing, you know.”

He concluded that under his leadership, the United States has established key industries in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. “I have kids, they invest in different things. They do believe that, but I’m the president, what I do is a very important industry, you know if we don’t have China.”
