Attorney General Bondi will face the issue of political pressure on the Justice Department in Senate

WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General Pam Bondi will face lawmakers at a congressional hearing Tuesday as growing questions about the Justice Department’s political influence have been guilty of criminal charges of one of President Donald Trump’s long-standing enemies and face immense White House pressure to prosecute others.

The testimony of the Senate Judiciary Committee has furthered concerns that the department is being used to seek revenge against the president’s political rivals after former FBI Director James Comey’s first appearance. As federal law enforcement officials emerge to several cities across the United States to combat crime and enforce immigration laws.

The hearing is likely to be a partisan deep division, with Republicans hoping to commend the Justice Department’s efforts to face violent crime and reverse the priorities of the Biden era. By contrast, Democrats are expected to grill Bondi about a turbulent eight-month term, defined by mass shooting and resignation of experienced prosecutors, including some investigating Trump, rejecting pressure from the Trump administration, or simply holding senior positions in previous administrations.

Bondi’s appearance is the first panel since a confirmation hearing last January when she promised not to play a political role with the Justice Department – Democrats may suddenly play a role when they put pressure on the attorney general to the president.

Bundy and other Republican allies said the Biden administration filed two criminal cases against Trump, the weapon that made the department’s weapons, even if some of its most compelling investigations involved the Democratic president and his son.

Casey’s lawsuit could take center stage in the hearing. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Virginia has raised reservations about evidence strength, and the Trump administration must compete for new prosecutors to secure the charges after experienced office leaders resigned a few days ago.

Other queries may also appear.

The Justice Department under Bondi has conducted criminal investigations into other vocal critics of the president, including Sen. Adam Schiff, Democrat of the Judiciary Committee, as well as New York Attorney General Letitia James and Andrew Cuomo, former New York governor and current mayoral candidates. They all denied wrongdoing, and Comey also denied that the investigation was politically motivated.

Bundy is likely to slam the Justice Department’s efforts to address violent crimes through federal law enforcement in Washington, D.C. and now Memphis, Tennessee. Republican lawmakers who make up most of the committees may also highlight the department’s concerns about illegal immigration and demolishing Mexican cartels responsible for smuggling drugs into American communities.

The Attorney General may also face questions about the Justice Department’s handling of investigation documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation of sexual trafficking. The wealthy financier case has deceived the department since its July decision, no longer publicly publishing any documents it owns after raising expectations from conservative influencers and conspiracy theorists.

But even in the face of intense conservative anger, Bundy maintained strong public support from the president.
