The military suspended a female commander stationed in Wisconsin after the portrait of President Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was found flipped.

Colonel Shera Bez Ramirez, the base’s first female commander, was “suspended” as garrison commander at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, the Army said in a statement Saturday.

“This suspension has nothing to do with any misconduct. We currently have no further details to provide at this time when this issue is under review,” the statement said.

On April 14, the Department of Defense (DOD) shared an article X on a social media platform showing a photo of commanding the chain, with photos of Trump, Heggs and Vice President Vance turned to face the wall.

The account reads in the title: “About the McCoy command wall controversy…we fixed it.”

Then, over the weekend, the Secretary of Defense reposted an X post that read: “Commander of McCaugh.

Baez Ramirez served as garrison commander at Fort McCoy last July. According to her Army page, she served as director of the Army Intelligence and Security Command in Fort Bellwall, Virginia.

Baez Ramirez was appointed as military intelligence officer in 1999. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology/mental health from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Army War College.

The U.S. Army Reserve has been contacted for comment.
