Former White House aide Steve Bannon lamented that former FBI Director James Comey didn’t walk through the front door of a Virginia courthouse where he was arraigned Wednesday on charges related to his 2020 congressional testimony related to the investigation into Russia’s ties to President Trump’s 2016 campaign.

“They slipped Comey in through another entrance so he didn’t have to come in through this,” Bannon said on his daily “War Room” show. The conservative host showed viewers a live feed of the courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia.

“This is bullshit -” he continued in comments highlighted by Mediaite, referring to the lack of bail for offenders. “I don’t know who it is at the (Department of Justice) and the FBI, and I hope the White House understands that.”

Bannon compared Comey’s arraignment to the court proceedings he himself faced for refusing to comply with congressional subpoenas, a decision that landed him in jail for months.

The former FBI director pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two charges filed after President Trump urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute him. His trial is set for January and is expected to last two to three days.

Trump, Bannon and others in the Make America Great Again movement have vowed revenge against the president’s enemies, with Comey listed as one of his most prominent and long-standing opponents.

“But they try to sit there and beat you up psychologically, so they get this image of you walking all the way to court,” Bannon said, complaining that he didn’t see Comey walk through the front door.

He added, “I don’t know where James Comey is in court right now.”
