It was June 2015. Online, there are countless smug Democrats calling themselves “experts” videos while ignorant experts loudly laugh at New York City businessman Donald Trump’s prospect of announcing his presidential campaign.
The stupid parade found it was pleasant to find Trump truly thought he could beat the “experienced” Republican politicians in the primary. They promised that “difference” Trump would never beat Hillary Clinton in the general election. In the process, they prove only that they are irrelevant to the problems that plague the country and are completely disconnected.
As early as 2016, Trump was driven by a very powerful message that resonated with tens of millions of Americans in the socio-economic range. He is not a politician (especially the most), and he brings decades of real-life business experience and has achieved great success.
Trump laughs because he knows that journalists, political “experts” and experts who smile on their faces are part of the “intellected elite” class that ruled Washington for decades or watched deeply. Not only that, his instinct told him that the American people believed it.
Now, as we enter the months of 2025 closing, it’s time to say, “This is coming again.” Suddenly, we have a lot of Republicans and “experts” ridiculed the left-wing Democratic Democratic Rep. Alexander Ocasio Cortez (DN.Y.) running for president, getting a Democratic nomination or actually beating the final Republican candidate in 2028.
Will AOC actually run in 2028, or will she play the media cleverly and multi-million-dollar free publicity system so she can run for the Senate? It’s very likely, but this is not a related question to ask. The more critical question is whether Democrats can launch left-wing or left-wing “populists” and convey a message that might resonate enough Americans to win the national election.
Answer: You bet they can.
“Populists” often succeed because they have elusive “IT factors”. Back in 2015, Trump took it to spades and combined it with his most popular “outsider with real experience” message to shock the world and win elections.
Today, Democrats have “populists” such as AOC and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Both push for similar socialist messages targeting uninformed: the tried and tested “freedom is my egg in every pot” canon, which blame the rich on all the problems in the world. While many Republicans and conservatives laugh at this socialist fantasy, political history shows that they work time and time again. They are largely because they don’t have to deceive everyone – enough to swing certain areas, counties and states.
In addition to the radar screens of many Republicans and conservatives, huge political and populist changes have taken place, most of which target young Americans against “authoritative” figures. Sadly – and very dangerous – it tends to be accompanied by the constant demonization and dehumanization of Republicans, conservatives and faithful people. One can only hope that the Democrats and the cool head on the left will strongly condemn such ugly remarks. But at the same time, the ocean changes are below the ground, targeting the youngest voters.
Is it effective? Yes.
Earlier this month, Gallup conducted a newsworthy poll that showed an increasing number of Democrats and independents were deteriorating for capitalism. Shortly thereafter, Politico published an article titled “Police: Capitalism has come out…socialism.” The neon red warning for Republicans in this article was, “Possible Democratic voters prefer socialist-consistent figures such as Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zohran Mamdani, rather than Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Hakeem Jeffries and Nancy Pelosi.
My advice to any Republican is ridiculed by the AOC or any other left populist as the next Democratic candidate, or the president will stop right away and dedicate your lot of time, energy and money to design strategies for 2026 and 2028 to beat them.
