Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) officially launched his reelection Tuesday after ruling out the 2028 presidential election.
In the announcement video of about two minutes, Moore compared with President Trump. Moore accused the president of “retracement to billionaires and big corporations.”
“I’m not that world, you all know I’m an action guy,” Moore said. “We’re moving quickly across this state and across parties to prove that there’s a better direction to Washington’s dysfunctional Washington.”
Army veteran Moore was first elected in 2022. He was not elected to office before. Moore holds a 50% approval rate in the state, according to a Maryland poll last month.
Moore’s re-election starts after he said on NBC’s “Meet the Media” that he will run for president in 2028.
“Yes, I’ll be in full term,” Moore told NBC’s Kristen Welker. “I’m excited about re-election. I’m excited about what the people of Maryland do.”
“Do you rule out the presidential governor’s campaign?”
“Yes, I’m not running for president,” Moore replied.
“Do you exclude it?” Welk asked.
“Yes, I’m not running for president,” he said.
Moore has been considered a democratic contender in 2028. The governor visited the Pennsylvania battlefield and speculations earlier this year that were the early primary states of South Carolina. In addition, Moore committed a crime with Trump due to the threat of the president’s threat of deploying the National Guard to Baltimore.
