(News Agency) – Republican Sensors Roger Wicker (Miss.) and Deb Fischer (NEB.) began their trip to the Indo-Pacific on Friday, an effort to strengthen U.S. national security interests.
A Congressional delegation (CODEL), including the duo of parliament, will first dock at military facilities in Hawaii, and then before a meeting in Guam, Tinian, Palau, the Philippines, and most notably Taiwan.
“We live in the most dangerous national security moment since World War II,” Wake said exclusively before leaving.
He continued: “Congress played a crucial role in assuring U.S. allies and partners that we are committed to maintaining a favorable regional order in the Indo-Pacific region.”
Wick said he hopes to assist President Trump in ensuring that the United States “maintains peace through its strength.”
“In a time of global turmoil, the Chinese Communist Party continues its military accumulation, and keeping the free and open Indo-Pacific has played a crucial role in maintaining the security of our country and our allies,” Fischer added. “I look forward to joining Chairman Wicker and seeing directly how we can strengthen our position in the region to protect the interests of the United States and our allies.”
