President Trump joined Chelsea British Football Club on the court on Sunday to celebrate his victory at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at the Metropolitan Life Stadium in New Jersey.
The president stood with the team after defeating the Paris Saint-Germain championship in France 3-0. The White House posted a photo of the moment on social platform X on Sunday.
Trump watched the game from a Skybox, and he reportedly watched the game with Attorney General Pam Bondi, Transport Secretary Sean Duffy, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, NFL legend Tom Brady, conservative media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Sunday was exactly one year since Trump was shot in a campaign in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“I think today is really frustrating,” Trump told reporters after flying to Washington after Chelsea’s victory. “But it was a great game.”
The Associated Press reported that Trump and First Lady Melania Trump cheered when they arrived at the stadium, but Trump briefly showed his booing on the giant screen in the stadium.
The Metropolitan Life Stadium will host the World Cup next year.
FIFA, an international football organization, opened an office in Trump Tower, New York before the club’s World Cup final. Infantino revealed the trophy Tuesday at the Trump Tower, with Trump’s son Eric Trump and former Brazilian footballer Ronaldo Luís Nazáriio de Lima joining him.
“I would like to thank the President of the United States @realdonaldtrump, @erictrump, and @whtaskforcefifa for all the support for the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, which will unite the world with peace, happiness and joy. I would also like to thank all the members of the FIFA Committee and FIFA Legend today,” Infantino said. ”
He added: “With New York becoming the capital of world football this week, we will be crowning the only FIFA club world champion at that time, and next year at the FIFA World Cup, I’m glad we will be attending the global city.”
