President Trump said on Sunday that he had signed the disaster statement for the recent deadly flooding in Texas.

“I just signed a major disaster declaration for Kerr County, Texas to ensure that our brave first responders have the resources they need right away,” Trump said in a truth-clarifying social post on Sunday morning. “These families are suffering from an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost and many still missing. The Trump administration continues to work closely with state and local leaders.”

“Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was present yesterday with Gov. Greg Abbott, who is working to help his big state people,” the president added. “Our incredible U.S. Coast Guard saved over 850 lives with the state’s first responder. God bless the family, God bless Texas!”

At least 67 people died due to flooding, according to the Associated Press. The National Weather Service said a large portion of central Texas is facing flood surveillance, flash flood warnings or flood warnings.

According to the latest news on the county website, the county sheriff said Sunday that 59 people died due to flooding in Kerr County, Texas. The sheriff also said 38 of the people killed were adults and 21 were children.

In a social platform X Sunday post, Abbott thanked Trump for responding to his earlier truth-truth social position.

“Thank you, @realdonaldtrump, your dedication to Texas. The collaboration between our state, local and federal partners is crucial to our state’s recovery,” Abbott said in his post.

He added: “Thanks to our brave first responders who work around the clock to find the missing Texans.”
