According to Ripple’s latest news, the long-awaited XRPL EVM Sidechain is now available on Mainnet.
Some highlights that this requires include:
- Complete EVM compatibility with sturdy, meta bunker, tough guy and more
- POA consensus and more than 25 validators
- Block time of 3.4 seconds and over 1,000 tps
- XRP as a local gas token
- Smart contract support through Ethereum virtual machines
The speech on the matter was David Schwartz, Ripple’s CTO and co-founder of XRP Ledger, who said:
“XRPL EVM SideChain provides developers with a flexible environment to deploy EVM-based applications while maintaining connectivity to XRPL efficiency. It extends the capabilities of the ecosystem without changing the fundamentals that make XRPL reliable.”
What is XRPL EVM Sidechain?
XRPL EVM Sidechain connects to the main XRP Ledger via Axelar Bridge to a secure and fast side network.
This provides greater user option, even if it is technically its standalone network, it is directly compatible, while native XRPL developers can benefit from its unique features and a broader organizational focus.
In addition to the above functions, some main functions include:
- It focuses on compliance
- It has a strong network of validators (mainly companies)
- Compared with Ethereum’s local link
