Most Americans support sanctions against Russia, oil-buying allies: Investigation

A poll released by Yugov on Friday showed that most Americans say they support sanctions on the ongoing war against Russia and its allies against Ukraine.

The survey found that 44% of U.S. citizens said the country should raise sanctions on Moscow, while 19% said sanctions should be retained.

23% of respondents were unsure how to move forward, while 6% said sanctions should be reduced. 9% said the U.S. should end all sanctions.

The investigation comes after Senator Lindsay Graham and other Republican lawmakers urged Trump to urge Russian President Vladimir Putin to punish his opponent, and economic restrictions were suffered after repeated strikes against Kiev.

The three-year war was backed by the Ukraine dollar to strengthen its defenses against its neighbors.

Graham said he believes his bill has more than 60 co-sponsors and can impose new sanctions on Russia and tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil, gas and uranium, which will help end conflict overseas.

Senator Rand Paul (r-ky.) opposes the effort while trumping his support.

Paul said on social media platform X: “The Graham Act will allow President Trump to negotiate an end to the Ukrainian war. A self-deceiving economic war is impossible to achieve peace.”

“The bill will not force China or India to change behavior, but it will impose an effective embargo on itself, which will hurt American families,” he said.

The majority of Democrats (59%) and more than a third of Republicans, and 37% of Democrats support sanctions on Russia, according to a Friday poll by Yougov.

42% of independents say they feel the same way.

YouGov’s poll was conducted online from June 12 to June 16, with 1,133 adult U.S. citizens from the Opt-in panel. The error margin of the population sample is about 4 percentage points.
