After the recent U.S. strike against Iran, more than a dozen House Democrats have announced their support for the resolution of war powers.
“We will initially write as a patriot who loves our country. Each of us wears uniforms as proud. Each of us is ready and willing to give our lives to protect our fellow countrymen and support and defend our constitution,” the Democrats read a Monday letter.
“With that in mind, we want to thank our troops for their bravery, from B-2 pilots to those stationed in the Uscentcom responsibility field. We are also known as veterans.”
This letter is to President Trump, which includes Pat Ryan (Dn.Y.), Jimmy Sisnaros (Dn.Y.), Jimmy Sisneros (D-Calif.), Eugene Vindman (d-va.), Chris Deluzio, Chris Deluzio (d-pa.), Bobby Scott (d-va.) (d-va.), Jimmy Panetta (jimmy panetta (d-calif) (d-calif), d-calif. (DN.J.), Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.), Maggie Goodlander (DN.H.), Salud Carbajal (D-Calif.) and Ted Lieu (D-Calif.).
President Trump announced on Saturday that the United States has bombed three Iranian nuclear sites, trapped in a conflict between Iran and Israel that began earlier this month.
Rep. Thomas Massie (r-ky.) and Ro Khanna (D-calif.) proposed a war power resolution last week that would tell Trump to end Iran’s “use” of the U.S. armed forces unless Congress allows this participation.
“We must continue to be treated strongly with our Israeli allies, including positive and strong support, defense of the State of Israel and its people, just as we have been for decades. But we must be very clear; the US-led offensive military operations against Iran, including preventive air strikes on Saturday night – are different,” the lawmakers said in the letter. ”
The group added: “We all vow to support and defend the Constitution. Article 1, 8 clearly requires Congress to declare war. In order to recognize a clear and sacred constitutional obligation, we will support a solution to the power of war.”
When commented, the White House published an article on Trump’s Truth Social Account.
“There is a complete agreement between Israel and Iran, and there will be a complete ceasefire,” Trump said in the Post.
