More and more Americans say they are seeing increased influence of religion according to the new Gallup poll.
Wednesday’s poll found that 34% of respondents said they believed that “the overall religion is increasing the impact on American life”, up 14 points from May 2024. In December, 35% said the same thing about religion, one point higher than the recent Gallup poll.
Back in April, President Trump promised “religion is returning to the United States” and started his first White House Easter egg roll since he returned to the office.
“We are bringing religion back to the United States. We are bringing a lot of things back to the United States, but religion back to the United States. That’s why you see the numbers you see, the spirit and the numbers you see.”
In a Gallup poll on Wednesday, 59% of respondents said they believe the influence of religion has declined, down 2 points from December. 2% also said the influence of religion was “same” and 5% “had no comments.”
In February, a Pew Research Center survey found that the decline in the number of Americans who identify as Christians appeared to be slowing after years of loss.
The Gallup poll was held May 1-18 with 1,003 people and or minus 4 percentage points, which is room for sampling errors.
