Investor Kevin O’Leary appears to have slammed the Trump administration’s recent crackdown on Harvard international student population, calling the action “stupid” in an interview on Friday.

“Harvard’s heat for other things shouldn’t be heated for planning amazing queues,” said the “Shark Tank” star. “These kids are great, we have to keep them here.”

President Trump recently raised the attack on Ivy League institutions, suggesting a 15% cap on the percentage of foreign students that Harvard University and other higher education institutions in the United States can recognize. In recent days, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also threatened to revoke student visas for all Chinese scholars.

“I will tell you that many of these students are not going anywhere. Many of these students are troublemakers caused by the country’s radical left LUNATICS,” Trump said of international students on Wednesday.

O’Leary, who was teaching as an executive researcher at Harvard, shot down Trump’s claim without directly mentioning the president.

“They don’t want to leave the United States. They don’t hate America,” O’Leary said of the students he included. “They want to get a passport and stay here to do business. I think I’m one of the only voices pointing it out.”

O’Leary continued: “Why do we spend millions of people teaching them, why do we become the smartest, smartest people on the planet and kick them out of the country? That seems stupid to me.”

Trump’s actions against Harvard have been hampered recently as federal judges support Harvard’s fight against Trump’s international student hat.
