This time the Craigieburn home was updated and sold for $661,000 after a fiercely contested Ten-Bidder auction.


In 2009, the Craigieburn home sold for only $145,000 for $661,000, a surprise gain from the first yard buyer built 16 years ago.

Seller Kerrie Neale received help from 40 Kelway ST with the help of a $30,000 first homeowner grant after the global financial crisis, and later turned it into an investment after moving out with her family.

Ms. Neil said: “It’s a great place and it’s still a great place.”

“Now, it’s really special that another first-time home buyer bought it.

“It feels like the story of the property starts with the same spirit, and it’s a beautiful thing.”

The home was auctioned for a price guide of $560,000 to $590,000 and opened with a $540,000 bid, then strongly competed through ten registered bidders (three online and seven online), which were then claimed by a young family.

Ms Neale said the proceeds from the sale will be used directly to pay off her current mortgage.

“I think we’re very happy with the results,” she said.

“Honestly, I don’t know if we would go to property without this support.
“It really makes a difference – without it, we may not be in this position right now.”

A wide central corridor connects the three bedrooms of the home, including the master suite with a private suite.


The Reserve Bank conducted its second rate cut in 2025 earlier this week, and Ms Neil said it was too early to say that it could impact future decisions.

“It’s really hard to say,” she said.

“I think we have to wait and see if these future cuts actually happen and go from there.”

The seller said it was moving to see a new family embark on a journey at home.
