Less than 1 point less than we annex Canada, Greenland: Investigation

Less than one in five Americans favor the U.S. annexation of Canada and the semi-automatic island of Greenland, according to a new survey released Tuesday.

The Yahoo News/YouGov poll found that 17% of our adults favor Canada becoming the 51st state in the United States, the idea that President Trump has trained several times since winning the 2024 presidential election. More than half of respondents (57%) opposed the potential expansion of U.S. territory, while 26% said they were uncertain.

Similar data were found when asked about the possibility of Washington annexation of Greenland, and the foreign policy objectives Trump spoke of during his first term were reiterated over the past few months. About 19% of Americans favor the U.S. annexed Greenland, a mineral-rich island whose foreign policy and defense are supervised by Denmark. According to the survey, nearly half of Americans (49%) opposed the idea, while another third, 32% were unsure.

Vice President Vance said he will travel to Greenland on Friday, a decision that comes as part of provocation and Trump’s efforts to surpass the Arctic Island after officials in Denmark and Greenland saw officials from his wife’s second wife, Usha Vance.

“This Friday, Usha’s excitement at visiting Greenland was so excited that I decided not to let her have fun on her own, so I’m going to join her.”

Usha Vance will travel with other U.S. officials as part of the Washington delegation, Greenland Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egge said it was part of a “very radical” pressure campaign “opposing Greenland society.”

When asked whether voters prioritize the most important questions during the first two months of Trump’s second term in the Oval Office. About 43% say the president is focused on the “most important issue” in the country, while 45% of Americans say the commander-in-chief is focused on the “this is not very important” issue. According to the survey, about 12% of people are unsure.

The poll was conducted from March 20 to 24 among 1,677 American adults. The error margin is 2.7%.
